TRAINING METHODS
There are three main forms of training in Railbirds - "Conditioning," "Schooling," and "Breezing." These three types serve different purposes and have separate limits and requirements, but all of them are significant factors for Performance. These training types are very important for success in your horse's career, and you should keep a constant eye on their respective stats to ensure that you're making the best possible use of your horse's talents!

★ Conditioning: A fairly simple mechanic, Conditioning is a quick roll that can either increase or decrease a horse's Fitness. Conditioning is restricted to four rolls per week, per horse, for adult horses only (yearlings/foals cannot be conditioned!). When you request a Conditioning roll, the horse's current Fitness and Buffer will be used to roll a number between (Fitness - (- Buffer)) and (Fitness + (+ Buffer)). Rolls are weighted, making it more likely to increase than decrease. The resulting number will become the horse's new Fitness value, automatically modifying the Buffer as well. This roll is done using a Carl-bot command, then updated in the spreadsheet by admins.
Just like real life, it is possible for a horse to become overworked - if your Conditioning roll comes out to a value greater than 100, the horse's Fitness will be reduced to its lowest value according to the Buffer. Due to this mechanic, it is necessary to strategize your rolls; it may not always be smart to roll again if Fitness is high enough. Note that Buffer scales with Fitness, so it becomes riskier to roll when Fitness is high, and much more tedious to move up when Fitness is low. |
★ Schooling: Schooling is a mechanic based on a horse's pool of Potential stats, allowing you to assign those points to any of the horse's Base Stats (excluding maxed [20]). Click here for information on submitting schooling. There are two types to choose from:
General guidelines for either type are as follows:

★ Breezing: Breezing is a simpler way to use Potential, but comes at the cost of fitness. It can be done at any time as long as the horse is an adult, and should be requested in the #breezing channel. Please do not request breezing while you have conditioning rolls pending, or vice versa!
The horse's Drain value is used to subtract from Fitness, allowing the owner to assign one Potential point to any of the horse's non-maxed base stats. For example, breezing a horse twice at 80% Fitness with 12 Drain would apply -24%, landing them at 56% and moving 2 Potential points over to any of the base stats. Studs, broodmares, and injured horses cannot be breezed. Horses also cannot be breezed if doing so would land them under 50% Fitness. |
