BREEDING BASICS
One of the most exciting aspects of Railbirds is the opportunity to see all the combinations of color, stats, conformation, and more that come from pairing up some ponies! The key to a good breeding program is creating the right pairs, and this guide may come in handy when sorting it all out.
Some quick things to keep in mind:
★ Each breeding will return a fixed list of stats (gender, base stats, potential, tenacity, and conformation) as well as a choice of two pheno/geno pairs. If you would like additional rolls or geno choices, you'll need to purchase the appropriate item(s) from the Item Shop. Otherwise, it's up to chance!
★ All horses have five breeding slots each to begin with, although more can be earned via xp tiers, event prizes, etc. Slots are tracked on the "Breeding" sheet (tab at the bottom of the main Registry spreadsheet). Usernames are listed here when permissions are submitted, and the ID# of the resulting foal is added when the breeding is used.
★ An extended pedigree up to great-grandparents can be found on each horse's official design. A pairing may not share any horses within their visible pedigree grid, but can share further ancestry that is unlisted beyond it. It is up to the owner to keep track of lineage that extends further than the official design info, although generations extending further than the grid will be marked with a → symbol on the official design to let you know that you may have to go hunting for a full pedigree!
★ Breeding slots may be sold for coins or other currency (including art/lit) - that's all up to you! Just make sure that all payment is complete before you submit the booking form to #slot-bookings. This allows the person to go through with breeding your horse.
★ Only ONE exclusive item or companion may be used per breeding. You may still use an exclusive with one or multiple non-exclusives, use multiple non--exclusives on their own, etc.

SPECIAL CASES / RANDOM FACTORS: ★ Lethal White Syndrome: Overo and Dominant White are lethal (Lethal White Syndrome) if homozygous. If two LWS genos are rolled in a breeding, you'll need to use Magic Dice to try again, otherwise the foal will remain nonexistent with parent slots still used. ★ Anomalies: All breedings are rolled for anomalies with a chance of 3%. The anomaly itself will be chosen at random and can be used only on that geno choice. You may also choose to discard/ignore it if you don't want it. ★ Twins: All breedings are automatically rolled for twins with a chance of 1%. If the roll is successful, you'll receive two foals instead of one! |
